The Shaldon Coffee Rush (back to images) In June 2003, after months of planning, refurbishment, preparation - and stress, The Shaldon Coffee Rush opened its doors to the public. I have always had a dream of having my own little cafe where I could display my photography. And when I met my husband Richard, I discovered that he also had a similar dream. But I never really had the courage to do more than entertain the vision for a brief moment. Then, we moved from Notting Hill to Devon and soon realised that there was a distinct absence of anywhere to get decent coffee. We had been spoilt for choice on 'coffee corner' on Portobello Road, with Starbucks, Coffee Republic and The Coffee Stop right outside our door, but here there was nothing. And so, a couple of months after moving in, when I saw a shop for sale in Shaldon, our closest village, I decided it was time to put that dream into action. And so far, so good. People seem to love the place and our reputation for the best coffee in the West Country is growing! Shaldon is a very pretty seaside village on the Teign estuary and The Shaldon Coffee Rush is at 27 Fore Street, Shaldon, Devon - just as you turn into the village on the right. We serve excellent organic and fair-trade coffee as well as organic tea, and very special hot chocolate and milkshakes made with Valrhona chocolate. We always have a great selection of home-made cakes and pastries as well as paninis and ciabattas made to order. We sell Valrhona chocolate in gift bags and boxes, and we also sell hand-made Cuban cigars which can be smoked in our comfortable back room - where we also welcome dogs! My photography, as well as that of other photographers and artists will be on display. Please get in touch if you are interested in exhibiting work |
